I was looking for something to let me mess with my guitar again. PocketAmp looked pretty decent in reviews, so I figured Id try it. Im pretty happy with it. Let me summarize the flaws:
1. No tuner that Ive found.
2. Not sold on the user interface for the preset saving stuff.
Whats it get right?
1. Sound. Nice and flexible. Be sure to notice that the choice of cabinet and choice of amplifier are separate. They both do different things, and the sounds are pretty good.
2. Latency. Too short to notice.
3. Effects. Delay, reverb, noise gate, and your choice of chorus/flanger/etc. is pretty decent. Its not a $800 rackmount signal processor, but then, it doesnt claim to be.
4. Nice range of distortion sounds, and the EQ works pretty well.
If it had a tuner, itd be an unambiguous five-star app. Without the tuner, its still solid, so I go into another app to use the tuner, then come back to this one to, well, play guitar.
The biggest complaint I had in the 1.x series has been fixed (new landscape mode on iPad). So Im all happy now.
